Head Boom JR. 2026 Tennis Racket
The BOOM JR racket was created for ambitious juniors aged 9-11 who want to develop a modern and aggressive playing style. It combines dynamic power with excellent ball feel, making it easier to execute both powerful shots and precise drop shots. Thanks to carefully selected parameters, young players can play more freely, building confidence and technique on the court.
The racket's construction incorporates Hy-Bor material – an advanced blend used, among other places, in the aerospace industry. This provides greater frame stability and better energy transfer upon impact, which translates into more power and comfort during play. This model is based on the construction of the senior BOOM MP and BOOM MP L rackets, but has been adapted in size and weight to meet the needs of developing juniors.
The racket adds power, increases shot control, and allows young players to fully focus on the game and perfecting their skills. The modern, blue design, inspired by HEAD's iconic racing ski collection, completes the package, making the BOOM JR stand out on the court in terms of style as well.
A racket cover is included.

Junior Racket Grip – Dimensions
Junior tennis rackets have smaller grips than standard adult rackets. Grip size refers to the circumference of the handle, most often given in two systems: European, i.e., G00000–G2, and American, where the circumference is expressed in inches.
For children and juniors, a well-chosen grip helps them hold the racket more securely, control the racket head more easily, and reduces unnecessary hand tension. A grip that is too large can hinder free wrist movement, while one that is too small can cause the hand to clench too tightly on the handle.
In practice, the grip size should be selected based on the size of the child's hand, and not solely on age or height. The table below may be helpful.
| EU Size | US Size | Target Group |
|---|---|---|
| G00000 | 3 1/2 | For the youngest children, usually in 17–21 inch rackets |
| G0000 | 3 5/8 | For children starting to play, often in 19–23 inch rackets |
| G000 | 3 3/4 | For children with a slightly larger hand, often in 21–25 inch rackets |
| G00 | 3 7/8 | For older children and younger juniors, often in 25–26 inch rackets |
| G0 | 4 | For older juniors, teenagers, and players transitioning from junior to adult rackets |
| G1 | 4 1/8 | For older juniors and those with small hands, often with light adult rackets |
| G2 | 4 1/4 | For teenagers and players with larger hands who are close to transitioning to a standard adult racket |
It is important to choose the grip of a junior racket primarily based on hand size, and only then on age, height, or racket length. Children of the same age can have very different hand sizes, so grip size should be treated as a separate parameter.
